Each year more than 5 million innocent children die from preventable diseases. These deaths are not only heartbreaking, but tragic – because for a few dollars, they could have been easily avoided. Practical solutions such as inexpensive vaccines and antibiotics would save these young lives.

The Best Shot Foundation does not provide direct medical services or provide funding to those who do. We advocate for greater U.S. federal contributions for that aid.

You can tell Congress to make foreign aid a greater priority. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provides vital funding and resources for health programs in over one hundred of the world’s poorest countries.

The global commitment made by the United States and 193 other nations as part of the Millennium Summit requires resources to scale up proven interventions. The commitments were to achieve a two-thirds reduction in childhood deaths by 2015, but necessary funding is still lacking.

Each year, members in Congress determine how much funding USAID is allocated in the budget. When voters speak up together, Congress listens. Let them hear your voice.
